Bottom line

If you prefer low-foam cleansing for everyday makeup, Fresh Soy offers surfactants, humectants and soy protein in a gel. Rose flower oil may be a poor fit if you react to aromatic ingredients, while waterproof makeup can need another removal step. At the Mid-Range tier, choose it for its texture and routine feel.

What is Shopper Fit?

Shopper Fit shows who The Beauty Briefing finds the product is reasonably suited for after reviewing the complete formula or product design, product format, expected performance, directions, tolerability, usability, and available evidence.

Depending on the product category, Shopper Fit may reflect factors such as skin type, hair or scalp characteristics, product needs, routine compatibility, sensitivity, experience level, or practical use considerations.

Shopper Fit is BB's editorial product-fit assessment, not a copy of the brand's marketing. It is not a diagnosis, a guarantee of results or tolerance, or a claim that the product is suitable for everyone.

What are Shopper Preferences?

Shopper Preferences are product attributes The Beauty Briefing has enough evidence to treat as established for the exact product. A brand statement, badge, or retailer claim alone is not enough.

Vegan
BB found sufficient documentation to verify the vegan claim within the documented product scope.
Cruelty-Free
BB found sufficient documentation to verify the cruelty-free claim within the scope of the evidence reviewed.
Non-Comedogenic
BB found sufficient product-specific evidence or documentation to support the non-comedogenic claim. A brand claim by itself does not qualify.
Dermatologist-Tested
BB verified documentation showing the exact product was tested with dermatologist involvement. This does not mean dermatologist-recommended.
Ophthalmologist-Tested
BB verified documentation showing the exact product was tested with ophthalmologist involvement.
Hypoallergenic
BB found sufficient product-specific evidence or documentation to support the hypoallergenic claim. It does not guarantee that no shopper will react.
None Found
BB did not find sufficient evidence to verify any of the controlled Shopper Preferences for the exact product.

Brand marketing tells BB what to investigate. BeautyBrief tells the shopper what BB has established.

If you want a low-foaming cleanser that removes ordinary makeup, SPF, and daily buildup without a squeaky finish, Fresh Soy Face Cleanser gives you a polished Mid-Range option. The main fit issue is rose flower oil: Fresh includes people with sensitive skin in its testing story, but aromatic essential oil makes that recommendation too broad for highly reactive or fragrance-allergic skin.

Beauty Briefing Verdict 2026 09 21T134243.852

What it claims

Fresh describes Soy Face Cleanser as a hydrating gel face wash that removes makeup, SPF, and impurities without stripping your skin. The current U.S. page says it leaves skin hydrated, smooth, and healthy looking and directs you to use it over the face and eyes morning and night.[1]

Fresh reports a 10% increase in hydration after one use in an instrumental test with 11 participants. It also reports that 98% of 122 participants agreed the cleanser deeply cleansed pores after the first use and 91% agreed it calmed visible redness after four weeks. The brand says its broader testing included people with sensitive skin.[1]

Claims vs. formula

Coco-glucoside and polyglyceryl-10 laurate provide the main cleansing action. That gives you a mild, low-foaming wash for daily dirt, oil, sunscreen, and ordinary makeup rather than a strong oil-stripping cleanse.

Butylene glycol, glycerin, and propanediol appear high in the current formula and help the cleanser feel less drying. Sunflower seed oil, borage seed oil, aloe, jojoba esters, and caprylic/capric triglyceride add more conditioning support.

Hydrolyzed soy protein adds moisture and conditioning support, but the value comes from the full formula rather than from soy protein alone.

The 10% hydration result is useful finished-product evidence, but the public page does not publish a comparator cleanser, complete protocol, statistical analysis, or participant-level results. It supports the non-stripping story without turning a rinse-off cleanser into a moisturizer.

The sensitive-skin limitation is Rosa Damascena Flower Oil. Essential oils are aromatic plant substances, and allergic contact dermatitis to essential oils is documented in susceptible people.[2] If your skin is fragrance-allergic or highly reactive, you have easier low-foam options without an aromatic essential oil.

Rose extract and rose flower water are also present, while caramel provides added color. Rose flower oil creates an Essential Oils Formula Flag; caramel creates an Added Color flag.

Ingredients that matter

Coco-glucoside is the leading cleanser surfactant, while butylene glycol and glycerin contribute humectant support. Hydrolyzed soy protein, aloe and cucumber extract make up part of the botanical-conditioning story; they do not establish sustained tightening or barrier repair after rinsing.

Fresh reports effective makeup and SPF removal along with finished-product hydration claims. A low-foam formula can be pleasant for dry or normal skin, but highly water-resistant products may still need separate cleansing. Rosa damascena flower oil creates a naturally aromatic component even without a generic Fragrance/Parfum listing, and caramel contributes color.

Coco-Glucoside

Coco-Glucoside

Coco-Glucoside is a well-established nonionic cleansing surfactant. The complete surfactant system determines how gentle a cleanser feels, and alkyl-glucoside contact allergy is clinically documented in sensitized people.

Safety and regulatory context

Fresh’s current ingredient declaration lists Rosa Damascena Flower Oil and Caramel, supporting the Essential Oils and Added Color Formula Flags.[1] This is important if your skin reacts to rose-derived scent ingredients, despite the brand’s gentle-cleansing positioning.

Rose essential oils can be relevant in allergic contact dermatitis, although the presence of an essential oil does not predict a reaction in every user.[2] Rinse well and use separate removal for stubborn waterproof eye makeup if needed.

What to expect in the short term

You get a light lather that removes everyday sunscreen, routine makeup, and surface oil without the squeaky finish of a stronger foaming cleanser. The moisture-supporting base helps your skin feel softer after rinsing.

Fresh directs you to massage the cleanser over your face and eyes. Waterproof mascara and especially resistant long-wear products may still need a dedicated first cleanse rather than repeated rubbing.

What to expect over time

The repeat-use strength is comfortable daily cleansing. Fresh also reports pH and longer-term appearance results, but the public evidence is more useful for supporting cleansing comfort than for proving meaningful treatment of pores, redness, or dullness.

At the Mid-Range tier, you are paying for the low-foam texture, makeup and SPF removal, moisture-supporting ingredients, plant oils, soy protein, face-and-eye use, and finished-product hydration testing.

Who it fits

This makes the most sense if your skin is dry, normal, combination, or oily and you already know rose-derived aromatic ingredients do not bother you.

If your skin is fragrance-allergic, highly reactive, or you deliberately avoid aromatic essential oils, a fragrance-free low-foam cleanser is easier to justify. Fresh’s current materials include sensitive skin in the product story, but BB does not include Sensitive in Shopper Fit because of the rose flower oil.

Compare before you buy

Final Assessment

If you want gentle low-foam removal of everyday makeup and SPF, Fresh Soy Face Cleanser combines mild surfactants with humectants and soy protein. Its rose flower oil is a meaningful consideration for scent-reactive skin, and the botanical ingredients do not make it a corrective treatment. At the Mid-Range tier, its value is the cleansing texture and moisturizing feel rather than unique treatment efficacy.
