Obagi Launches CLENZIderm M.D. Resurfacing Multi-Acid Peel Pads

Obagi Medical has launched CLENZIderm M.D. Resurfacing Multi-Acid Peel Pads, a $100 leave-on exfoliating treatment for blemishes, uneven texture, discoloration, and excess oil. The formula combines four acids in disclosed concentrations: 4% glycolic acid, 3% phytic acid, 2% salicylic acid, and 1% mandelic acid.[1][2]

The useful part for shoppers is the transparency. Obagi tells you how much of each featured acid is in the formula. What those percentages do not tell you is exactly how strong the pads will feel on skin or whether they are worth $100.

What launched

The pads are designed for evening use two to three times per week, or as tolerated, without rinsing. Obagi positions them for normal-to-oily and combination skin.[1]

Along with the four exfoliating acids, the formula includes niacinamide, glycerin, denatured alcohol, willow bark extract, and menthol. The product page also includes a sunburn warning because the formula contains alpha hydroxy acids.[1]

Why it matters

Most shoppers cannot tell much from a vague “multi-acid complex” claim. Here, the disclosed concentrations make the formula easier to compare with other exfoliating treatments.

But the four percentages should not be added together and treated as a strength score. Glycolic, salicylic, mandelic, and phytic acids behave differently, and the finished formula—including pH, vehicle, and how often the pads are used—affects both performance and irritation.

What we know

Obagi reports that after four weeks, 97% of participants agreed their skin texture looked smoother, 90% said their skin looked and felt smoother, 87% said their skin looked healthy, and 83% said their skin looked less oily.[1]

The company says those results come from a 2025–2026 eight-week clinical test and presents before-and-after images from the testing.[1]

The limitation is that the public materials do not provide enough detail about participant count, controls, participant characteristics, or full study methods to judge how strong the evidence is.

What we’re watching

The main question is whether the finished product offers a noticeable enough advantage over less expensive exfoliating pads to justify the $100 price.

More complete clinical documentation would also help shoppers understand what the reported percentages actually mean in practice—not just how many participants agreed with a statement.
